Making Your Veneers Last After Your Treatment

BOOK APPOINTMENT
Deciding to get veneers isn’t just about enhancing the appearance of your teeth and brightening your smile—it’s also about continuing to prioritize your oral health so you can protect your investment.

If you’ve put your trust in Harmony Dental of Santa Clarita and received your veneers from us, we hope you’re delighted with the results and that your veneers last for years to come. Here are some tips on how to increase the long-term durability and aesthetic appeal of your new veneers:

Brush and Floss Twice Daily

When you brush, avoid toothpastes containing baking soda as well as whitening toothpastes containing hydrogen peroxide. Both ingredients can be abrasive and may potentially harm the surface of your new veneers. Also, please be sure to brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush, which won’t scratch the porcelain.

Do Not Grind Your Teeth

Though your veneers are durable, they aren’t invincible. Excessive teeth grinding or clenching may cause cracks to develop. If you’re concerned about grinding or clenching your teeth during the day and/or while you sleep, ask Dr. Rad about the possibility of being fitted for a mouthguard. Mouthguards are also recommended if you play sports or engage in physical activities that expose your veneers to potential impact.

Be Mindful of What You Eat —and How You Use Your Teeth

Biting your fingernails, cutting tape, chewing on ice, ripping open containers or packages, and using your teeth for any other similar purpose can damage your veneers and compromise their longevity.

Visit Dr. Rad at Harmony Dental Regularly

Our friendly and knowledgeable dentist, Dr. Rad, is committed to ensuring that your veneers last as long as possible. Regular dental visits will allow him to monitor the condition of your veneers and promptly address any issues that may arise.

Veneers can last anywhere from 10-20 years depending on several factors; one of the most influential is how well you take care of them. If you have any questions about how to effectively care for your veneers, we encourage you to contact us for specific guidance. You can reach our team by calling 661-296-0180, emailing appointments.sc@harmony-dentalcare.com, or submitting an online contact form. In the meantime, cheers to your new veneers!
